When people decide to start pursuing alternative energy sources, they naturally gravitate toward solar power, and then ultimately to solar panels. But one question that they become faced with is trying to decide between purchasing solar panel kits or building their own homemade solar panels.
So, which one is better?
Before making the decision as to whether or not solar panel kits are better than homemade solar panels or vice versa, it is important to understand the difference in each of them.
A solar panel kit is a kit in which the solar panels themselves are already constructed, requiring minimal involvement on the part of the homeowner. In fact, many purchase their solar panel kits and then contract the installation process out to a professional, leaving them free of the entire process.
I have to admit that if I could do it that way, which would certainly be the way to go.
One of the downsides to this route, though, is the expense. The pre-made solar panel kits alone can run up to 19k. And that can be on the conservative side. While it is an attractive solution, it is not very practical for most people.
So what are homemade solar panels, then? A homemade solar panel is exactly how it sounds, a solar panel made from scratch. Almost as easy as homemade apple pie, but with a lot more longevity!
The cool thing about homemade solar panels is the fact that it is super inexpensive to get started. In fact you can get started for under $200.00. I know of a gentleman who used a DIY solar panel guide and built solar panels to power his workshop and RV for under $50.00. I think that is pretty good, don’t you?
While homemade solar panels are certainly less expensive than solar panel kits, it’s important that you know what you are doing. If you do not know what you are doing, you run the risk of wasting a lot of time, and possibly even money.
The great news is that a lot of the hard work has already been done for you, you just have to find the right guide! For my thoughts on the best guides out there, visit my homemade solar panels review page.
Until next time,
Let the sunshine in!
