Solar Powered Lighting – What’s the Big Deal About Using Solar Powered Lights?

Without light, the world can quickly become a pretty dark place. Walk into the woods in the dead of the night without a flashlight, and you’ll know what I mean. Or, how about when your power goes out during a fierce storm, and you are left to wait it out in the dark?

There are many different types of light sources and lighting. There is direct lighting and indirect lighting. There are light sources such as overhead lights, lamps, flashlights, and then the all important street lights. The focus of this article is on the different sources of direct lighting and even more importantly, direct solar powered lighting.

Can a Home Solar Energy System Help Me Save on Electricity?

With the fluctuating price of fuel and electricity, people are investigating the different ways that they can save on their energy expenses. In fact, many are asking themselves if a home solar energy system is a way that they can save on electricity.

One of the strong appeals of a residential solar system is the idea that you can build or buy your electricity once, and forget about it for the next couple of decades – or more. This way, the cost of your electricity is set, and the fluctuating or rather increasing energy prices are of no concern to you, since you might be paying only 20-40% of what you paid before. You might even pay nothing, and possibly even sell some energy back to your local utility company. I think that the idea of keeping yourself free from the never ending up and down cycle of energy prices is a fabulous way to save on electricity.
