Hi There!

One of the things that consistently comes up with people who want to build their own solar panel energy, is the question of whether or not it is even worth it? I mean, forget about global warming for just a minute and concentrate on what is on everyone’s mind, their pocketbook.

If you were to invest in a DIY solar panel kit, or put in the time to build your own solar panels for your home, would it even be worth it? What if you decide to move before you totally recoup the cost of time and money invested? Would it still be worth it?

How DO You Begin Converting To Solar Power?

When you finally decide to take the plunge and convert to solar power by either purchasing a do-it-yourself-kit, having solar panels installed or building them yourself, you have figure out how much power the appliances that you use will tax the system.

For example if you wish to use a solar powered generator to run your hot water, you really don’t have to put that much effort into figuring out that a couple of panels will do the trick. But if you want to run a window-type air conditioner or a 24-hour freezer, you would have to consider the possibility of adding more power.

How Many Solar Panels Do You Need Part 2

Hi There!

Do you ever feel like you finished a sentence mid thought?

That is what I feel like I did with my last posting, and I very much apologize!!

I started to tell you how many solar panels you might need, but never really finished with the full picture. Or I guess I am saying I could have given a fuller picture, with a few more details. I am not the best at details. I like broad strokes.

First of all, about finding out how much power you need. Before you can use your average daily wattage demands to figure out how many solar panels you would need as I recommended here, you need to know how to figure out your daily wattage use! Now, I am not thinking that most people could not figure this out, but we all have days, and maybe it didn’t jump out at you. One of the BEST ways to figure out your daily wattage use, would be to add up your utility bills for a year. After adding these up, divide 12, and then divide by 30. There I go being me again. OR you could divide by 365 : ).
